Karen Gregory is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Board Certified, with a specialty in asthma, allergy and pulmonary medicine. She is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Asthma Educator. Karen Gregory obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She completed doctoral studies at Chatham University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Karen is on faculty at the University of Oklahoma, College of Nursing. She lectures extensively on issues related to allergy, asthma and other pulmonary diseases and is published in these areas. She has served on the Association of Asthma Educators Board of Directors for the past six years and served as the organization President in 2008 and 2009. Karen is a Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care. She serves as a faculty member of the American Association for Respiratory Care Asthma Preparatory Course and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Education Course. Karen is the Medical Chairperson of the Oklahoma Asthma Initiative. She is president-elect of Sigma Theta Tau International, Beta Delta Chapter-at-Large, the only nursing honor society worldwide. Her current research includes asthma disparity with emphasis on improving functional health of the patient with asthma and their family. Throughout Karen's career in pulmonary medicine, she has held many active memberships and leadership positions in her professional organizations serving on board of directors, committees, and projects including assisting with the establishment of two professional organizations.
